More About the Presenters:

Dr Leon W. Cowen is a highly experienced clinical hypnotherapist and clinical hypnotherapy educator. Some say his style is quirky but with over 45 years as a therapist, 35 as an educator and a PhD in clinical hypnotherapy education (School of Medicine – University of Western Sydney), he is acknowledged as a leader in the profession. He is the Executive Director of the Academy of Applied Hypnosis, an Adjunct Fellow with Southern Cross University, a supervisor and member of several professional associations such as the Australian Hypnotherapist Association, Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists, Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia, Australian Counselling Association, the Australian Integrative Medicine Association and served as the Chair of the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia Educational Advisory Board. Apart from his lecturing at various universities, hospitals and conferences on specialist hypnotherapy techniques and applications, he is currently developing a Clinical Hypnosis unit which will be the first such unit to be taught at an Australian University.

Rubin Battino (LPCC, OH) has been in private practice in Yellow Springs in counseling since 1978 when he received his MS in mental health counseling from Wright State University. Of special interest to HIE members are his books “Ericksonian Approaches - A Comprehensive Manual,” and the biographical plays he published about Viktor Frankl and Milton Erickson. He was on the faculty of the Milton Erickson Foundation’s meetings on hypnosis for over 10 years. Battino specializes in single-session therapy and counseling using hypnosis. In 2023 Battino presented eight 90 minute free master classes via Zoom to a large audience. He recently gave a four hour presentation on uses of hypnosis to Feelink, a Mexican group. Recently he has been working on developing methods to elicit solutions from his clients, all adaptable to single-session work and secret therapy.
