About the event

At the inception of the HIE, the series focused on helping clinicians meet the challenges of the social distancing brought on by COVID-19. Dr. Criswell returns us to our roots with her presentation entitled "Using Process-Oriented Hypnosis to Address Loneliness and Social Isolation"

More About the Presenter:

Shawn R. Criswell, PhD, is a licensed professional counselor who lives and practices in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. For over 30 years, she has provided clinical care to clients of all ages as well as offering consultation and training to healthcare professionals locally and internationally.

Clinical hypnosis is an area of special focus for Dr. Criswell. Throughout her professional career, she has used and taught hypnosis in a range of settings including private practice, hospitals, academia, integrated medical clinics, and outpatient mental health. She finds the use of hypnosis particularly compelling because of the potential that it has to help people access, develop and use resources, capacities, and strengths that they may not have even known they had.

Recently, Dr. Criswell had the honor and pleasure of co-authoring the 6th edition of Trancework: An Introduction to the Practice of Clinical Hypnosis, with Dr. Michael D. Yapko. This experience allowed her to fully immerse herself in the world of hypnosis. Now, in this presentation, she pairs her enthusiasm about hypnosis with her passion for helping others develop high quality relationships.
