Message From The President

Dear NCSCH Members:
Welcome to our new website!  Kudos to our Immediate Past President, Sharyn Warren, for driving this initiative.  I trust you will find the revised format a refreshing change.  In addition to the vibrant new look, our site has enormous potential for communication, education and marketing.
Members will now have the opportunity to market their practice to fellow colleagues, as well as the general public.  Additionally, be sure to check the website regularly for information about workshops, trainings and other educational opportunities. The Board is considering re-instituting a regular newsletter, that will further enhance the sharing of information, including clinical case presentations.
Other potential features, include:

  • establishing a PayPal account, providing another option for payment of dues and conference fees.  This would also permit the marketing and sale of items for both the professional and lay community, thereby increasing revenue
  • creating podcasts, which would greatly enhance our continuing education offerings beyond our annual conferences
  • creating an audio/audiovisual archive of excerpts from conferences and other trainings
  • developing blogging features
  • establishing a listserve for participating members

For those of you who may not be aware, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce your board members.  In addition to myself and Sharyn, the board consists of our Vice-President, Barbara Birge, LPC, PhD, who is in private practice in Charlotte.  Our Treasurer is Mark Wolever, PhD, who is in private practice in Durham.  And, our Secretary is Terry Robertson, LCSW, who is in private practice in Morehead City.  Now, if you didn't notice that's a fair geographic representation of our sizeable state!  It has been an honor for me to serve with this intelligent, energetic and enthusiastic group of colleagues.  Please feel free to communicate your ideas and suggestions to any of us.  We are here to serve your needs and ensure that this wonderful organization, now in its 40th year, continues to grow and thrive.  Speaking of growing and thriving, please spread the word to your colleagues, direct them to our new website and, encourage them to join!
In the upcoming months, the Board will be reviewing our ByLaws, further developing the website, discussing committee formation and coordinating our annual Fall conference.  We encourage and value your input and participation.
Cordially,
Lawrence (Ed) Kincade, PhD, LCSW
